THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE FUNDACIÓ FLUIDRA SELECTS 10 PROJECTS FROM THOSE SUBMITTED IN THE CALL FOR THIS YEAR’S FLUIDRA DAY

10 projects in the fields of aquatic therapy, learning to swim as a vehicle for survival and the pool as a tool for inclusion and social integration have been selected in this year’s edition of Fluid Day. In total, more than 4,000 people / year will benefit.

 Given the quality of the projects presented, the Board of Trustees of the Fundació Fluidra has decided to increase the budget by 55%, and award the entire budget requested by the winners.

 In the category of learning to swim as a means of survival, with 33.2% of the total budget, the selected projects have been "Prevent Drowning Foundation of San Diego", proposed by Chris Brake, of Fluidra NA, which is expected to benefit more than 2,000 people / year, and “Swim and survive” Royal Life Saving Australia, proposed by Courtney Lowe of Fluidra Australia. The project will benefit 120 boys and girls, who will be able to attend swimming lessons to which they would not normally have access.

 In terms of aquatic therapy, 4 projects were selected, with 40.8% of the total budget. “Autismo Sevilla en el agua”, by Maria José Ariza (Fluidra Comercial España), has been the most voted by Fluidra workers, and predicts that more than 150 boys / girls / year with autism will do sports activities related to swimming and swimming. In this category, the Cirac project has also been selected, presented by Viridiana Rentería de Fluidra México. Winner of Fluidra Day for the second year in a row, Ciriac uses hydrotherapy with neurorehabilitation techniques for children with cerebral palsy, and expects more than 100 children / year to benefit.

 Another selected in the aquatic therapy category was "Safe splash with school special needs", which aims to teach swimming to people with special needs and also therapeutic benefits, in California (USA). The project was by Jason Anderson, and will benefit 50 people / year. Also in this category, Esteban Romera from Fluidra Comercial España presents a project by the Fundació Boscana de Barcelona consisting of offering aquatic therapy based on the Halliwick concept. The Foundation's contribution will be the financing of a hydraulic lift for the swimming pool, and the beneficiaries will be 500.

 The pool as a tool for inclusion and integration is the third theme of this year’s Fluid Day. With 25.9% of the budget, three projects have been selected:

 The Gavina Foundation will offer children in the Raval district of Barcelona the opportunity to get acquainted with the aquatic environment and the possibility of enjoying the swimming pool during the summer months. The project has been presented by Marta Boladeras, of Fluidra SA, and is expected to benefit 275 people a year.

 Assumpció Roca, from Fluidra SA, has presented PISCINA SOLIDARIA-FASR, a project aimed at promoting the activity of the swimming pool in different projects for children, young people and mothers in a vulnerable situation in the neighborhood of Sant Roc de Badalona (Catalonia), with little chance of learning to swim. 460 beneficiaries / year are expected.

 YMCA Sacramento offers swimming lessons for those who can't afford them. Presented by Jason Anderson of Fluidra NA, it is expected to benefit more than 100 people / year.

 The president of the Fundació Fluidra, Joan Planes i Vila, stated that “Fluidra and the Fundació Fluidra would like to thank the participation and involvement of the workers of the group’s companies globally, and we are pleased to observe the number and the quality of projects submitted. ”
